Amador and Calaveras Counties are two of the most beautiful recreation areas in the state of California. From the foothills to the mountains, they feature many outstanding lakes, rivers, streams and forests. Both are also part of the Sierra Nevada gold country, where there are many historic towns, ghost towns, mines and other interesting sites such as the Kennedy Gold Mine in Jackson, and the Knight's Foundry in Sutter Creek.
